UNLISTED ISSUE. RIC lists very similar issue [THESSALONICA 49-50b], but with no star in wreath. General note about this issue from p. 507: "Officinae are reduced from six to five in an issue which, with sharp lose of weight, shows the wreath which anticipates Liciniu's quinquennalia. The sole type is Iovi Conservatori, again struck in quantity and from all officinae for all three colleagues. Licinius momentarily employs the full (quinquennalian) legend Imp C Val Lic ... P F Aug. Date, c. 312, earlier". Failmezger [RBC, p. 85 and plate 11] lists this variant for Maximinus and assigns him a separate number [202b]. He also suggests that "type with star in wreath may be an allusion to Constantine's victory over Maxentius" [RBC, p. 72, footnote 155]. Unfortunately, coins most expected in such case - minted for Constantine - were not found yet. Note the dot over officina letter. Not found on other specimens which may belong to this issue. Coin should be listed after THESSALONICA 50b. See CORRIGENDA, VOL. VI, p. 484, 518, 540-541.
